We have a lot of students coming to Hypoxia, and they always seem to have their own set of unique questions. We hope the following FAQ will help answer most of your questions. If not, email us and we will do our best to help.
It means that you registered with a substantial discount compared to the regular delegates. You get all the benefits of a regular delegate at the meeting, including a copy of the conference proceedings in book form.
There is no link between your student registration and lodging or meals payment to the Chateau. Some students elect to stay onsite, others stay elsewhere. Wherever you stay: your lodging and meals are 100% your responsibility.
If you don’t stay at the Chateau, you cannot join the Hypoxia group for meals. One of the great things about this meeting is the collegial atmosphere around the banquet tables. Many great new collaborations have started from interactions between Hypoxia delegates. A room at the Chateau comes with a meal package. Paying for the meal package means you can join all the meals.
An accompanying person is a spouse or friend who is not planning to attend the scientific program, but would would like to join you for the evening after-dinner program. For example, if Dr. Jones and her husband Bill are attending, but Bill is planning to ski all day, they both need to be registered. Dr. Jones as a regular delegate, and Bill as an accompanying person. Also, our agreement with the Chateau stipulates that all guests of the Hotel under our program will be registered delegates. I don’t have a room reserved at Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise; can I still make a reservation? The Chateau usually fills up fast. Click here for more information about lodging. All reservations should be made by 10 January 2011 to qualify for our special room and meals package.
Yes, you can. The cost per day is ~$110 Cdn. See the Front Desk at the Chateau for more information and to make your purchase.
Unfortunately none are available at this time.
We select all the abstracts submitted by students. Then a panel selects the top 20 from that group, about 40% of the total. Those twenty will be invited to prepare and present a poster, and to make a short oral presentation (3+3). The written abstract, poster and oral presentation will all be evaluated by a panel of judges led by Drs. George Heigenhauser and Frank Powell for selection of the top students. If you make it into the competition we will ask you to identify yourself as an undergraduate/graduate student, or some sort of post-doctoral/post-graduate student to make the even the playing field for the competition.
By January 15th, 2011 or sooner.
