Hypoxia 2009: Hot Topic Presentations
Overview of Hot Topic Talks
Hot Topic talks will be selected from the submitted abstracts to the 16th International Hypoxia Symposium. An international panel of experts judge the abstracts for
their significance and interest to the Hypoxia audience. The abstracts are blinded as to authorship during the judging. The invited Hot Topic speakers are notified in
January that their abstract has been selected.
Hot Topics in Hypoxia and Hot Topics in Mountain Medicine are featured.
Hot Topic talks are fifteen (15) minutes in length, with ten (10) minutes for presentation and five (5) minutes for discussion.
Keys to a Successful Hot Topic Presentation
- Time: The Hot Topic format demands that speakers be very well prepared, with careful attention to the time. You will not be allowed to present for more
than ten minutes. Therefore, we recommend that you practice with friends and colleagues before coming to Lake Louise.
- Slides: Check out the general guidelines for Powerpoint. Make sure your slides are simple, to the point and that they leave a strong impression
of the major findings of your study.
- Organization: The Hot Topics sessions will be organized as a free communications session. The chair for your session will be in charge of
time keeping and directing the discussion.
- Dates and Times: The overall schedule for Hot Topics Talks will be displayed here in early February 2009. Hot Topic talks will be presented on Thursday and Saturday afternoon from 1600h to 1830h in the main meeting room. Presentations on CD or USB-stick are due at the speakers table in the main meeting room the morning of your presentation.
