Hypoxia 2009: FAQ

When is the 2009 IHS? The 16th IHS will be held March 10-14th 2009. Tuesday, 10 March 2009 is registration and an opening reception. The formal scientific program starts Wednesday and ends Saturday evening. Most delegates will depart Sunday. We have arranged special conference rates at Chateau Lake Louise for three days before and after the conference.

Where will the 2009 IHS be held?
Chateau Lake Louise Alberta, Canada.

How do I get to Lake Louise?
The most popular route is to fly to Calgary, Alberta, Canada. From Calgary you can take a shuttle or rent a car. Click here for more driving information. There will be a bus on the afternoon of the 10th, and returning the morning of the 14th. Times to be determined and posted here by January 15th, 2009.

I have not registered yet, is registration still open?
Early registration is will open in early September 2008. Late registration is open until 1 February 2009 and can be completed online. After 1 February, registration will only be accepted at the meeting in Lake Louise.

What is included in my Hypoxia registration?
Registration for the conference and attendance at all official functions. Also, only registered Hypoxia delegates can get the special Hypoxia room and meals rate at the Chateau.

What is included in my Hypoxia registration for an accompanying person?
An accompanying person is a spouse or friend who is not planning to attend the scientific program, but would would like to join you for the evening after-dinner program. For example, if Dr. Jones and her husband Bill are attending, but Bill is planning to ski all day, they both need to be registered. Dr. Jones as a regular delegate, and Bill as an accompanying person. Also, our agreement with the Chateau stipulates that all guests of the Hotel under our program will be registered delegates.

I don’t have a room reserved at Chateau Lake Louise; can I still make a reservation?
The Chateau usually fills up fast. Click here for more information about lodging. All reservations should be made by February 1 2009 to qualify for our special room and meals package.

What is included in my Chateau room reservation?
From Tuesday evening through Sunday morning your hotel room reservation includes all meals and coffee breaks. If you choose to come early, and leave late, your meals will not be included in the room price.

I would like to submit an abstract, is it too late?
Late abstracts will be accepted up until 1 February 2009. Click here to submit an abstract. You must be registered to submit an abstract.

How can I view online abstracts?
They will become available about 1 February 2009 - please check back then.

I cannot attend Hypoxia in 2009. How can I order the abstracts?
Check back here closer to the meeting time for more information.

How can I pre-order a copy of the proceedings from Hypoxia? 
The Proceedings will be available in the late summer of 2009. The pre-publication cost is $85US. All Hypoxia 2009 delegates get one complimentary copy with their registration. For additional copies, and for Proceedings from previous Hypoxia meetings, click here.
